Private Transfer Merzouga & Sahara Desert

Merzouga is the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, one of the most iconic landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara. Sunset on the dunes, a night in a Berber camp, sunrise on a camel: this is the desert experience most travellers come to Morocco for.

The journey from Marrakech or Fes is long (9–10 h from Marrakech). Buses and shared grands taxis exist, but they involve connections, can refuse bulky luggage and won’t drop you at the camp. A Morrogo private transfer takes you door to door — hotel, airport or camp — at a fixed price, with a driver who knows the route and the stops (Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, Todra Gorges, Dades Valley…).

A long journey, better private

Marrakech–Merzouga is about 560 km. By bus or shared grand taxi you often change at Ouarzazate or Errachidia, manage schedules and luggage. With a private transfer you leave when you want, can stop at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the Todra Gorges or the Dades Valley, and arrive straight at your riad or the camel meeting point.

The price is fixed before departure: no haggling on the way, no last-minute “desert supplement”.

Desert camps and Erg Chebbi

Most camps sit in the Erg Chebbi dunes, 20–40 minutes from Merzouga village by 4x4 or camel. We can drop you:

• in Merzouga village (hotels and riads)
• at the parking / camel departure point
• or, with a 4x4, closer to certain vehicle-accessible camps

Give the exact name of your camp when booking: the driver coordinates with the camp team for the transfer.

Fes–Merzouga and Ouarzazate–Merzouga

From Fes the journey (7–8 h) goes via Midelt and Errachidia, with fine Middle Atlas landscapes. From Ouarzazate (5–6 h) you take the Route of the Kasbahs and the gorges — a classic of southern Morocco circuits.

For groups (families, friends, organised trips), a Van or Minibus is often more comfortable and better value than a string of taxis.

4x4: when do you need one?

On the asphalt road to Merzouga, a sedan or van is enough. A 4x4 is useful if you want to enter the dunes, reach an isolated camp, or combine the transfer with a desert excursion. Available on request — contact us for a quote.
